Architectural Shingle Roofing in Brookhaven
The most common roof on the street, installed the way it is supposed to be. Every nail where it belongs.
Good Shingles, Installed Right
Architectural shingles are the standard for good reason. They are thicker than old flat 3-tab shingles, they have a layered look that hides small wavy spots in the deck, and they hold up better to wind. But a shingle is only as good as the way it goes on. Most shingle failures we see are installation problems: nails placed too high or too low, too few nails per shingle, no starter strip at the eaves, skipped ice and water barrier in the valleys, old flashing reused. A roof like that can look fine for a few years and then start losing shingles in every big storm. We install to the manufacturer's written instructions. That means the right number of nails in the nailing strip, a proper starter course at the eaves and rakes, underlayment over the full deck, barrier in valleys and at penetrations, new drip edge, new flashing and ridge cap made for the job. We also check the attic ventilation, because a roof that cooks from underneath wears out early. You pick the color. We handle everything under it.
What Goes Into a Shingle Roof
